Stuff I've Made
a self-exploration on growth, where I've come from, and where I am headed
1995-2002: The Early Beginnings
  • Tools used: #2 Ticonderoga Pencil, Crayola Crayons, Paint, Mom's scratch paper
  • Beginning from a young age, my laziness in my art was apparent (I was never a fan of coloring the entire page)
  • Commonly drawn things: girls with two strands of hair and unrealistically long eyelashes, "landscapes," and bunny rabbits
2003-2005: MS Paint & Birthdays
  • Tools used: Construction paper, colored pencils, Crayola crayons, Microsoft Paint, Clipart
  • Making birthday cards for my parents was always an opportunity for me to showcase my "creative" side. It also allowed me to draw pictures of cake, which I was always liked.
  • When I first learned Microsoft Paint, I thought it was the greatest thing ever invented. Clipart honestly changed my life.
2006-2008: Online Presence and Embarrassing YouTube Videos
  • Tools used: Older sister's digital camera, Windows Movie Maker, Microsoft Paint, the Internet
  • When I first became familiar with YouTube, my friends and I would write, direct, and act in our own skits and upload them. It was my first experience creating original content for the Internet. It was also one of the most embarrassing time periods in my life. We had a whopping 5 subscribers.
  • Aside from YouTube, I would also spend my days designing my profile and avatars on Gaia and making my igloo look nice on Club Penguin.
2012-2014: Introduction to Photography & Surrealism
  • Tools used: Nikon D5100, Adobe Photoshop, GIMP 2.0
  • My high school photography class is what I consider to be the turning point in my growth as an artist.
  • Prior to taking this class I never really had the opportunity to practice art as an extracurricular or even as a hobby. It was just something I'd never considered, especially growing up in a household that often looked down on art as a career.
  • My photography during this period was heavily inspired by surrealism, dreams, and missing limbs.
2015: Element Playing Cards and Introduction to Graphic Design
  • Tools used: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop
  • A deck of playing cards inspired by the four elements of nature: water, air, earth, and fire.
  • This was my first project I'd ever created after changing my major and getting accepted into the DMA program at UCLA. This was also my first time using Adobe Illustrator.
  • I often cite this class as another turning point in my growth in confidence as a designer.
2015: (a)chromatic world
  • Tools used: Maxon Cinema 4D, Adobe After Effects
  • A motion graphics installation that explores the juxtaposition of black and white and color.
  • This was my first time experimenting with motion graphics at such a large scale. To say this project stressed the hell out of me is an understatement.
  • I was taking a final the night my installation was exhibited but I'd heard it went ok.
2016: COOLHAUS Ice Cream
  • Tools used: Nikon D5100, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, construction paper, a lot of ice cream
  • As one of my first internships, I was a design and social media intern for Coolhaus Ice Cream in Culver City. I had the opportunity to style, photograph, and edit all products within the Coolhaus brand for their social media and marketing platforms.
  • While this internship was unpaid, I had unlimited access to what would normally be overpriced gourmet ice cream.
2016: Bacteria Blaster
  • Tools used: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects, Unity
  • A 2D shoot 'em up where you play as a syringe that shoots antibiotics at bacteria
  • This was my first time building a game in Unity. It was quite the learning experience (mainly just spending all night watching tutorials).
  • Inspired by my older sister who is days away from graduating from pharmacy school.
2017: Food Blahg
  • Tools used: Paper and Pencil by 53, Adobe Illustrator, Instagram, Apple Ipad Mini
  • An ongoing series of food drawings and patterns displayed on Instagram that offers both recipes and relevant stories/experiences in my life.
  • This project came to me as a result of me attempting to practice my illustration skills. I wanted to make something that was all-encompassing of my interests: cooking, designing, and ranting about my life.
2017: Cloud Nine
  • Tools used: Autodesk Maya, Maxon Cinema 4D, and Adobe Photoshop
  • A 3D modeled city in that floats in the clouds.
  • Inspired by my love for creating new worlds and a dream to live in the sky.
2017: Strange Sweets
  • Tools used: Sony A6000, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Illustrator
  • A surreal cooking video that explores various recipes involving inedible ingredients.
  • Inspired by fast cooking videos seen on social media, my love for cooking, and surreal photography.
