WEEKLY 3 - Online Identity

For this weekly I chose to read both Joanne McNeil and Ashe Dryden's articles to see with which I resonated more. I really indentified with Joanne McNeil's piece "The Dream Must Be Continuous" because the theme of it is something that more or less plagues me nearly everyday as an avid social media user. I often find myself wondering if the things I choose to post mislead people into having a false impression of what my daily life looks like. Stemming from the intrinsic desire to never appear fake or plastic, I feel that her line about people's impulse to tell stories struck a chord in me.

QUESTIONS:

1.) Does it matter if we mislead people about our lives on Social Media? Or is Social Media supposed to be a space for us to imagine and create the most attractive versions of ourselves?

2.) If we are misleading people intentionally, is it considered immoral? Or does the fact that social media is not "real-life" shield users from any repercussions?
