Inspired by the way the Zoetrope and old-fashioned animated lamp-boxes work, I wanted to construct a rotatable lamp that can display just as exciting shadows onto its environment when lit up. I wanted to create a lamp that enticed users to rotate it and watch the shadows shift. A lamp that valued both form and function.
Materials needed:
Wood & tacky glue | Twine | Birch 1/8” plywood | Lazy Susan hardware
1/2” MDF wood | 60 Watt clear incandescent bulb | Lamp cable with switch
By combining design tools such as Autodesk Maya and Adobe CC Illustrator, I was able to sketch out my ideas and decide on a more cohesive, thought-out design. By learning fabrication tools such as laser-cutters and power-drills, I was able to construct a well-made and polished final product.
