Weekly 6

Reflect on your experience learning about the tools presented in Tuesday’s lecture. Do you think you will use tools like these in the future? Why or why not?

As a group we added the Chrome Extensions Badger and HTTPS Everywhere to our browsers, and I see no reason to not continue using them. Dat and Hashbase are super intriguing to me because they work outside of a system I was vaguely aware existed, but definitely didn't realize you could break out of. I'm certain to use Hashbase for file sharing, but I'm not 100% sold on using it to develop websites yet.

Lee's work with LA Mesh seems intriguing and I would definitely be willing to not pay Spectrum for Internet access if this service got off the ground.

In regards to the readings: I've always suspected Google Maps collects data on where I go, but I was surprised by how just physically driving a car can mean my movements are tracked, via the toll device tracking and tire RFID tags.
