Apple Human Interface Guidelines: Response
After browsing these guidelines, it was interesting to see the interfaces I interact with on a daily basis "broken down" based upon their meaning and functionality. As the human who constantly uses these products, I was intruiged to see what Apple's reasonings are behind these design choices. I understand Apple's want for universality amongst their products. But at the same time, I wonder if it limits us. Our devices are capable of limitless possibilities as far as UX design, yet Apple strictly enforces certain guidelines, limiting us from exploring any other potential possibilites. I think Apple has done a great job at creating an intuitive platform that is easy for nearly anyone, at any age, to navigate. I appreciate their consideration for accessibility, such as text size or text to speech, as well as considering color constrast ratios for maximum legibility. I really do think there are a lot of positives to Apple's user guidelines. The only downside I believe is the limiting of future possibilities to even enhance these devices further, as they have a lot of potential to do more, it feels limiting to have certain guidelines.
