Real Names

Transphobic behavior is still a large problem within some less exposed communities and for those who have never come into personal contact with the trans and drag communities, or really any at risk community, they don't understand the struggle that's wrapped up in merely being yourself. Judgment from family, old friends, anyone who knew you before your transition or coming out can cause so much strife and wanting to escape that on your online life is a totally reasonable. Whether it should be protected by social media companies is another topic and really up to the individual companies; powerhouses like facebook sadly can't be harmed with a social movement right now, there's no real way to slow or harm facebook, twitter, or instagram because they're literally ingrained in society for now. Facebook is trying to protect its profit margin with their real name policies and are totally being bullies, but how much we as a community can do about it at the moment is limited.
