Locomotive started as a game play experiment for the Iron Grip Mod. Most of the maps included several capture points and multiple routes to each one. For this map I setup basically one route with a forked path that rejoined the main route shortly after it broke away. This forced players to work together to take turns holding off enemy troops while other reloaded or grabbed health. Through the use of scrolling textures and ambient sounds, I made the players really feel as if the train is speeding along as they inch their way toward the engine in pursuit of the oppression teams general. The linear design of the map helps players to always know where they need to go. The speeding train also created an almost cinematic game play as you really felt like the heroes of a movie fighting their way through hoards of bad guys to take over the train.
