Chimero wrote about many great ideas and points in his essay "What Screens Want". I agree with so much of what he said, and it's astonishing to think I've been able to see most of these transformations with my own eyes without being conscious to it. My favorite point is the last one he makes about our maps being badly distorted and that we need to create a map of the internet and technology that more accurately fits it's best uses and purposes. The one we have is a little scary in the direction it's headed, and with lots of evidence online, has proven that it has a handful of negative impacts because of how it's been mapped. I believe he summed it up best with this paragraph: "We can use the efficiency and power of interfaces to help people do what they already wish more quickly or enjoyably, and we can build up business structures so that it’s okay for people to put down technology and get on with their life once their job is done. We can rearrange how we think about the tools we build, so that someone putting down your tool doesn’t disprove its utility, but validates its usefulness."
