Chess is an interactive installation created at UCLA under the supervision of Professor Christian Moeller. Based on the layout of a chess board, the installation consisted of four capacitor sensors controlling the variables x, y, z of the 3 dimensional space. When the visitor steps on the sensor, the chess board begins to deconstruct its original form, and a new process of construction takes place in the virtual space. This virtual space is projected on the floor while the visitor controls its construction and deconstruction with their feet, reversing the way we normally see our creative process developed. The process started with a screen based virtual model (images presented). |
