this specific article was really cool to read, because it's something i think about a lot within the context of design, and our role as designers. the part that was the most applicable to my thought process recently was the section about humbling yourself and designing not because you're the expert, but because you are assisting with a community's needs. i think about this concept a lot when designing, because i think it is really easy to become caught up in the idea that we are the ones coming up with the content when in actuality, it comes down to the people we are working for. in regards to my site, the community itself is not necessarily one of marginalization but more just the general public, so i suppose this topic is not 100% applicable to what i'm doing, however i think it is an important thing to consider overall, for any design one does. my main goal in my website is to share the wealth of my mom's cooking knowledge with her friends and family who are constantly asking for her recipes.
