Frank Chimero Response

In Frank Chimero’s essay, I found myself going back to his definition of flux in relation to web design. He describes it as the management of change and the most important factor in designing for screens. With web development and design constantly evolving at a rapid pace, I believe the ability to change and adapt is a high priority. It is up to the web designer to always find new ways to bridge interaction and communication. I particularly enjoyed Chimero’s examples in the way web design bends reality in order for the user to better understand reality. He describes how maps are distortions of reality yet function to express the unexpressable and packaging into something digestible and understandable. This ability to bend reality in the web medium is possible through manipulations of motion, time, and interaction that is unique only to web-based design.
