In Frank Chimero’s, What screen Want, presented a compelling point about abstraction of the language of computers.
Stated in the article, WE are the ones who created visuals to understand the abstract language that is coding.
We build the visuals so that the abstract language can be more tangible for the users.
User experience interface is a form of exercising control in the visual world.
We bring in visuals for computers what can be folders, trash bins, notes, and etc. from lines of codes.
The article’s point of view is that we have been determined how things look for many years that it completely distort our reality.
I agree with this point completely. We are spoiling our power of dictating how abstraction should be translated.
It leaves us wanting more changes and development constantly. We are in perpetual loop of confusion.
Now, we understand that the power we have at hand is limitless but what is true to reality.
There are no limits to what a screen can show, 2-D or 3-D, because the screen can present it all.
Like the quote, “If something can be anything, it usually becomes everything,” where Chimero used to compare plastic with software.
We are making virtual world becoming everything we know. Unbelievably, it only stemmed from wanting to have “something presentable.”
