Weekly 8

IFTT

The basis of my idea was very simple. I wanted to set up an alarm of sorts that would alert me every hour that I needed to do work. This was playing on the idea on my constant habit of cecking my phone (usually as as excuse not to do work) and as a journal of how long it was taking me to check it and what I was doing at the moment. I wanted this alarm to work with my constant habit of checking my phone as kind of an angry ai friend that told you to get back on track. I chose Trello because it has no sound notifications on my phone so it was up to me to keep track of it. Trello was also created to keep track of tasks and duties which I could use like a duty journal.

ittt

My hope was that it would make me more alert and on track. Here are some screenshots of what happened during the day. I started my ittt at 9am and kept going from there.

9 AM SCHEDULE 3 PM SCHEDULE 7 PM SCHEDULE

My initial thought of making me less stressed was very wrong. I constantly felt like I was on a timer but it does make for a somewhat efficient system of doing things. I also really enjoyed watching my goals change throughout the day as I realized that something would take more time than I thought it would. It could be frustrating because sometimes I would check my phone right during the time but just go back to filling out the trello card later because there were more important things I needed to be doing. The card was helpful for keeping track of hours and kind of shaming you for not doing the right thing in a self-regimented way but it was also a hassle during busier hours. I still think this is an interesting way of donig things.
