this is weekly 6

In the past, I have seen other articles about the issue of the extensive internet censorship in Cuba that primarily took a critical stance against the government’s actions. What I find most interesting about this analysis of Cuba’s DIY internet revolution is that Martinez states that “the tragic reality that the optimists in Silicon Valley don’t realize: Technology isn’t going to “save,” “ruin,” or otherwise seriously change Cuba any more than tourism did.” Citizens will be able to find ways around their current situation and with the pace of economic liberalization in Cuba, he’s confident that change will come, regardless of what the international community does. His conversations with the people of Cuba remind me of talks I had with relatives in China about the many ways netizens are capable of dealing with internet censorship and finding ways around the great firewall of China.
