No. 56
Yongkang Road in Xuhui District of Shanghai (once the French Concession, the old road name used to be Routeremi, also known as Routeremi Road, used from 1884 to 1943) is only about 600 meters long, starting from the east of Jiashan Road (Kahn, Rue Gaston) and ending at the west of Taiyuan Road.
Only five years ago, Yongkang Lu was still a sleepy little street. Today, its small shops, bars, cafes and restaurants are lined up next to each other like a chain of pearls. With its low-rise houses, large glassed-in façades and narrow sidewalks, Yongkang Lu has become a real party district. The entire neighborhood seems to gather here for drinks before moving on to boisterous parties that last well into the night.
The romantic Yongkang Road cafe, clothing store and cafe combination. Tiny coffee shops are my go to, especially since moving to China. Yongkang road in Shanghai is a popular destination for cafes of food. 56 Rue is small and unique with a clothing selection at the back of the cafe. There’s a choice of around 7-10 drinks only but the cups used are rather dainty and cute. Pricing is standard for coffee in China, 25-40rmb a cup.
