Hi.

WEEKLY THREE

Questions for discussion:

Do memes in print cease to be memes, due to the loss of their ability to spread quickly over the internet, instead locked into a tangible format? (For example, there are several books consisting of meme images available in the humor section of most book stores.)

Most memes, despite their roughly composed or hand drawn imagery, use typed text rather than hand written text. How important is typography, or the lack thereof, to the concept of “internet ugly”? Do objectively ugly typefaces, such as comic sans, contribute to the concept of “internet ugly,” or does the standardization of characters break the rule?

How important are traditional print publication design elements (typography, layout, spreads, materials, etc.) to UX/UI design on the screen? Some elements obviously carry over, but is it important to have knowledge of print design when designing for the screen?
